Carol McCormack is a regional artist from south-west Queensland who has immense passion for the Australian landscape. After being one of the first non-indigenous artists to visit Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) in 1986 she was hooked on that part of the world and has revisited the Kimberley area many times.
Carol has had a “moving life”, always on the go. Now semi-retired from life on the land, annual trips to remote parts of Australia and visiting friends on outback stations, provide inspiration for her work from the farthest reaches of the country.
While travelling, acrylic is her preferred medium. She often paints in the moving vehicle, saying this lends a sense of abstraction and immediacy to her work. A keen bird watcher, she finds more and more birds becoming part of her paintings.
