Dilapidated Beauty: extraordinary glimpses of the once neglected Empire Theatre in John Hutton's solo exhibition...
'The Forgotton Theatre'
The story of this collection of oil paintings, drawings and etchings begins 25 years ago in 1992, when the artist was given access to the disused Empire movie theatre.
The atmospheric qualities of vacated spaces are a continuing source of inspiration for the artist. He is intrigued by places "that were once alive but now exist as mere spaces without sound ormovement, that have been reduced to facets of memory and history but somehow still retain their dignity"
'The Forgotten Theatre' is the culmination of the artist's journey across two decades. Please join us for this intriguing exhibition opening 23 June 2017.
